The friendship between Mexican composer Manuel Ponce and Spanish guitarist Andrés Segovia contributed significantly to the development of the guitar repertoire In addition several of the composer s works that were not originally written for the guitar such as Scherzino Mexicano Intermezzo and Estrellita have been arranged and incorporated into the guitar repertoire Building upon this approach Mr Dorukhan Ersin conducted research into additional works suitable for performance on the guitar and ultimately identified Manuel Ponce s Prelude Fugue originally composed for left hand piano as a work adaptable to the guitar He subsequently arranged the piece for solo guitar I hope that these highly valuable works which I consider to be a significant contribution to the guitar repertoire will be performed with appreciation by guitarists
